More Than Play is mom owned and operated by co-founders, Lisamarie and Amanda. At More Than Play, our founders are licensed speech language pathologists who are passionate and dedicated to providing an evidence-based approach to learning through play.
Our team plays with purpose by offering "adult & me" classes led by licensed/certified therapists and educators and a custom-designed play space with language development and cooperative play in mind. Our play space and classroom has been intentionally designed to limit overwhelm for both children and adults.
Founders Lisamarie and Amanda were inspired by the desire for community support while raising little ones. Having 10 years of experience working with children and alongside parents as speech-language pathologists, they recognize the importance of a parent’s role in engaging their children in play and promoting an elevated, language-rich environment.
Our Story
More Than Play emerged in May 2021 from the team's pioneering language & play-based classes that transcend conventional play to nurture the development, imagination, and social experiences of little ones.
Drawing upon our professional expertise as speech-language pathologists and personal experiences as parents, we created a curriculum of signature "adult & me" classes that were offered at various libraries and rental spaces throughout the Massapequa-Seaford-Bellmore-Merrick area.
Recognizing the need to expand our mission, we promptly initiated plans for our dedicated play and enrichment space. We took a leap of faith when leaving our full-time positions as school-based speech pathologists to officially open the doors of "More Than Play" - our very own space - on November 7, 2022.
